  1. Can you please do a step by step procedure how to use it? I am not sure if I have to use Plex to play a Blu-ray Movie. Would it work on a ripped blu-ray movie saved on an external hard drive?
    Thx.

  2. Sure.. I’ll try and get something more in depth up. This plug-in is made to work with plex so you will have to load it up. after everything is installed.

    1) Launch plex.
    2) go to videos.
    3) then select makemkv.
    4) select the blu-ray drive
    5) select title (this can be a pain because you can’t really tell which one is the main title at this point. look for a title with a really long duration)
    6) in some cases you may have to select the type of stream. (vob, mpts, ts, etc..)

  3. Hello n8o!

Thanks for your work! I am excited trying it out, but…
When i start plex en choose the MakeMKV plugin i got two options, Add remote stream and Preferences. Is this correct or should i see something else?
I connected a blu ray device and a disc in it.

    • When the MakeMKV plugin is loaded it scans for available devices. before you launch plex make sure the device is connected and the disc is in the drive. If you can see it in finder before you launch plex and it still doesn’t show up then there is a problem. If that is the case then launch terminal and type this in.

      diskutil info -plist

      example: diskutil info -plist disk0

you will need to figure out the disk id for your blu-ray drive and send the results back to me. Thanks!

  4. Thanks for your reply. The drive is visible in Finder, but not in the plugin.
How can i find the disk id?
Your example was disk0, but what do i need to type in or find out with which to replace the 0?

  5. Sorry about that.. Use this command.

    diskutil list

  6. It says:
    /dev/disk1

    Under Identifier: disk1

    Thats all

Sorry, i am no technical expert …

  7. Yep.. you should get a few /dev/disk1 … 2.. 3.. etc.. Figure out what disk id your bluray drive is (under TYPE NAME you should see something that matches under that disk).

    then type..
    diskutil info -plist disk0

where disk0 is the disk id. so it can be..

    diskutil info -plist disk0
    diskutil info -plist disk1
    diskutil info -plist disk2
    diskutil info -plist disk3

    etc.. Hope that helps..

  8. its disk1 as i said.
when ik type diskutil info -plist disk1 i get a lot of lines with code.
What do you need to know?
    diskutil info -plist disk1

  9. Hmm.. everything looks good in there. can you send me your MakeMKV plug-in log it’s located at.
    ~/Library/Logs/PMS Plugin Logs/com.plexapp.plugins.makemkv.log

send it to nate.oo at gmail dot com

  10. I also have a problem, the plugin see my drive but names it as “BOOTCAMP”… and when I try to load it I have an error!

  11. Hi – have tried out the plugin but get a timeout error in Plex.

I think this is because the disk I used reports ‘Complex Multiplex Encountered’ when using makemkv directly and takes around 5 minutes to then scan the disk – the plugin reports the time out after around 2 mins so scanning cannot be complete.

Am using Plex 0.8.5, MakeMKV 1.4.11 under OS X 10.6.2.

  12. Hello Nate,

Just send you the email as requested!
    Thx.

    RObert

  13. BTW. I read a comment about the drive being identified as BOOTCAMP. But that isnt obviously the Bluray Drive. That is just the BOOTCAMP partition where Windows is installed. So, one shouldnt select this drive….

  14. Looks like the plug-in isn’t reporting any information in the log. You may need to turn on debugging in plex. Open plex in widowed mode (if full screen press Command F).
in the top toolbar go to Plex -> Advanced settings. then select enable debug logging under the system tab.

after that run the plug-in again and send me the log.
I’m having problems with blu-ray playback right now. so after you can see the proper drive it still may not work.

    thanks
